The Boat & Yacht Monitoring System from IoT Solutions is a comprehensive monitoring solution designed to continuously oversee the most critical parameters on a boat or yacht. It provides peace of mind by ensuring owners are alerted in real time whenever something abnormal occurs, allowing issues to be addressed before they escalate into damage or costly incidents.
Key benefits include:
• Continuous remote monitoring of critical onboard systems
• Instant alerts when abnormal conditions are detected
• Increased safety, reliability, and peace of mind when the vessel is unattended
The system is designed to monitor multiple onboard systems from a single platform, providing full visibility of the yacht’s operational status at all times.
Monitored systems include:
• Shore power availability and power loss
• Battery voltage and electrical health
• Bilge water levels
• Vessel GPS location and anchor drift
• Unauthorized access, door, and hatch opening
• Movement and tamper detection
• Temperature monitoring
The solution is designed for a wide range of stakeholders involved in boat and yacht ownership, operation, servicing, and risk management.
Typical users include:
• Private boat and yacht owners
• Marine installers and service providers
• Marine shops and channel partners
• Marinas and fleet operators
• Insurance companies and marine underwriters
Shore Power & Electrical Systems
Shore power monitoring is achieved by installing an AC-to-dry-contact interface provided by IoT Solutions Ltd that converts the presence of shore power into a Normally Closed signal. This signal is then read by the IoT Pro Marine device, either through a wired connection or wirelessly, depending on the installation requirements.
The IoT Pro Marine system instantly detects any shore power disconnection and immediately notifies the owner through one or multiple configured notification channels. When shore power is restored, the system also sends a confirmation alert, ensuring full visibility of power interruptions and recoveries.
The system can monitor up to three separate battery voltages, either through wired connections or wireless voltage sensors.
If battery banks do not share a common negative reference, a wireless monitoring solution is used. The wireless option can also be deployed even when batteries share the same negative, offering maximum installation flexibility across different vessel layouts.
Bilge, Water Ingress & Flood Prevention
Bilge monitoring is achieved using a dedicated float switch installed slightly lower than the bilge pump activation level. This allows the system to detect rising water levels before the bilge pump is triggered. Multiple float switches can be installed where required, using either Normally Closed wired connections in series or wireless sensors.
Yes. If water continues to rise despite the bilge pump running, the float switch will continue triggering alarms, indicating abnormal conditions. The system can also detect repeated or excessive pump activity, helping identify continuous water ingress, blocked discharge lines, or pump malfunction.
Location, Drift & Security Monitoring
The IoT Pro Marine system includes an integrated GPS module that continuously determines the vessel’s position. A geofence perimeter is defined through the cloud platform, and if the yacht moves outside this perimeter, an alert is automatically generated.
Yes. Once a geofence is configured, the system instantly sends an alert if the yacht moves beyond the defined safe zone, whether due to anchor drag, mooring failure, or unauthorized movement.
The system supports both wired and wireless door and hatch monitoring sensors. These detect when doors or hatches are opened and immediately notify the user. The security system can be remotely armed or disarmed through the cloud platform, allowing flexible control depending on vessel usage.
Boat & Yacht Monitoring System FAQs
Connectivity, Mobile Access & Alerts
The monitoring platform is accessible from mobile, tablet, or computer on both iOS and Android devices. The platform can be accessed via https://iotpro.iotsolutions.com.mt/ (https://iotpro.iotsolutions.com.mt/)and can be installed as a web app or bookmarked for quick access on desktop systems.
Alerts can be delivered via Email, SMS, WhatsApp, or phone call, both when an alarm is triggered and when it is cleared. Notifications can be configured for all monitored parameters, including battery voltage, water ingress, bilge activity, security access, geofence movement, temperature, and shore power status.
Compatibility & Scalability
Yes. The solution is fully retrofit and does not require civil works.
• In-ground sensors are installed using plastic anchor screws into tarmac or concrete
• Overhead sensors are installed using wall or ceiling anchors
Multiple mounting options are available and documented in the public wiki:
